2021 #BeingCoop Awards

2021 Awards open now!

The 2021 #BeingCoop Awards are open for nominations. You have until the close of nominations at midnight on 16 April to nominate a colleague.

We’re on the hunt for those brilliant colleagues who go above and beyond to make a difference.

The Co-op is a special place. Over the past few years, we’ve been on a journey of change, going back to our roots and the ideas that made the Co-op great, putting us back at the centre of our communities. Now it’s your chance to put your colleagues at the centre of all this and recognise them for what they do best.

Every day, our colleagues live our Ways of Being Co-op and bring our purpose of championing a better way of doing business to life for customers, members and communities. It’s time to celebrate them and nominate those who’ve gone above and beyond.

Nominate a colleague today.

1. Community Star Award

This award is for a colleague who’s made a real difference to the lives of people in their local community. This person has gone out of their way to make lasting community connections and has shown that great things happen when people work together.

2. Inclusion Award

This award celebrates a colleague who makes a real impact as a role model for inclusion. Someone who takes personal responsibility for helping everyone understand the importance and value of diversity. This person champions marginalised communities, and helps us put diverse backgrounds and ways of being at the heart of our decisions.

3. Do What Matters Most Award

We’ll celebrate a colleague who always does the right thing for colleagues, members and customers, even in the face of challenges and setbacks. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about Co-op’s vision and beliefs and ensures they’re at the heart of everything they do.

4. Be Yourself Always Award

This award is for a colleague who brings their best self to work every day and inspires others to do the same. Someone who’s not afraid to be themselves and accepts everyone for who they are.

5. Show You Care Award

This award will bring to life a real example of a colleague who’s really shown they care to customers, colleagues, members or their communities. Someone who’s a true example of why Co-op colleagues are different.

6. Succeed Together Award (team award)

True team work is co-operation in action. This award will be given to the team who have worked together for the good of colleagues, members, the community and the wider Co-op.

7. Co-op Apprentice of the Year
We have just over 1,300 apprentices across our business. This award is an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional achievements of a Co-op apprentice in your business who is living the Ways of Being Co-op brilliantly in their day-to-day role.

How to nominate

Top tips for writing a successful nomination

1. Being amazing – big or small

Whether you’re nominating a colleague because they did something big (like organising an event in their community or being heroic in an emergency) or for something they do every day (perhaps come rain or shine, they always have a smile for everyone or they’re the glue that holds the team together), whatever your reason, we’d like to hear about it.

2. Details, details, details!

The more you can tell us about the person or team you’re nominating, the better. Why are you nominating them? Does it relate to a specific event or is it something they do well every day?

3. Examples and stories are good

If it’s about a specific event, tell us the story of what they did and how that made you/others feel. If it’s about something routine, include an example and tell us how that affects you/others.

4. Pictures tell 1,000 words

If you like, why not include some photos or a short video showing your colleague in action (with their permission) or the results of what they achieved.

5. Who, What, Where, When, Why, How?

Remember to make sure you include all the important details – not only about what your colleague has done but about why you’re choosing to nominate them.
