Whilst helping at the newly formed friendship group at Beamish open air museum, Funeral Director Gary Platten assisted local man Jack Lucy after he had a fall which resulted in serious injuries to his face and hand.
Gary acted swiftly, staying with Jack and calling an ambulance. He went in the ambulance with Jack and stayed with him the whole time he was in hospital until he was discharged five hours later. He also made sure Jack got home okay and was settled in his home.
The following day Gary used his own car to collect Jack from
home and take him to the hospital for further checks. Gary has maintained contact with Jack to ensure he is comfortable as he has no
family in the area and lives alone. Jack continues to attend the friendship
group and enjoys the company.
Well done Gary for showing you care and doing what matters most!
